Brief

When businesses go through the process of selecting a packaging supplier, they want to do so safely in the knowledge that their decision ticks every box on what can be a long and exhaustive checklist.

We struck up an exciting relationship with a national clothing brand because their tick list wasn’t being checked off correctly. Service was poor and promises were not being met. They needed a partner they could rely on.

The business has two sites in Derby and packaging needed to be delivered to both, but the incumbent supplier would only deliver to one site. This caused a logistical headache for the brand’s Operations Manager, who had to regularly transport packaging between the two sites, using up valuable time and resources which could be better spent elsewhere.

The incumbent also insisted on delivering a full mixed load made up of several box lines, resulting in the customer ordering and storing unwanted packaging long before it was needed. This also affected their cash flow, with money tied up in packaging that would often sit for months on end.

Solution

To improve operational efficiency, we recommended that the customer take advantage of our stock and serve offering. Popular with many of our customers, this service has opened up the possibility for this business to only call off the quantities and types of packaging they need from our on-site warehouse at short notice, for delivery to their desired locations. No more compulsory mixed line orders required and because the customer pays on a per delivery basis, it has vastly improved their cash flow.

Unlike their previous supplier, our flexible approach means that we are more than happy to deliver to two sites, removing unnecessary obstacles and creating a smoother process for receiving packaging and getting precious customer clothing orders shipped across the country.

Better still, we are more competitive on price, so switching providers proved to be a double win for this highly valued new client.

If your retail business is ready to streamline how it sources and distributes packaging, and is in need of some long overdue reliability, we’re here to assist.
