Brief
In today’s digital age, ecommerce brands are thriving in sectors including food & drink, cosmetics, clothing, household goods and more. But to keep up with consumer demand, these businesses are reliant on efficient and high-quality fulfilment and packaging.
We recently worked with a fulfilment house which was having difficulties with the quality of its boxes sourced from an off-the-shelf stock box supplier. The business was serving a number of growing ecommerce brands, with one particular customer’s goods needing to be sent to both independent retail stores and direct to consumer for online sales, via the courier network. However, the quality of the boxes was falling short of expectations and the fulfillment house did not have the resources required internally to improve the standard.
The business reached out to Colton Packaging to provide them with the high-quality packaging they needed for their client’s products and have since benefitted from our reliable, quality supply, in-house design expertise and our stock-and-serve offering.
Solution
With the capabilities to develop bespoke solutions in-house, we were able to increase the grade of the box and adjust the sizes to perfectly fit the specified products. This benefitted the fulfilment house and, ultimately, their client.
Not only this, but thanks to our stock and serve model, we were – and are – able to mitigate against issues surrounding short lead times by maintaining stock levels on behalf of our clients. This allows clients to call on us as and when a top-up is required, on an ad-hoc basis; often crucial when serving growing businesses who may not have regular quantities forecasted within their sales pipeline.
Not only was this project a success for the client in question, but it also led to several further projects where Colton acted as the packaging design department for alternative fulfilment houses working with ecommerce brands. Within this remit, we liaise directly with their ecommerce customers to help them design their outer packaging, saving the fulfilment house time and effort, whilst ensuring the packaging is developed correctly using our many years of industry expertise.
We also work directly with brands, and liaise with their fulfilment houses on their behalf, to ensure a joined-up approach to creating quality corrugated packaging solutions.
