Box donations guarantee safe delivery of urgent medical supplies for Inter Care

We were humbled to join forces with local charity Inter Care recently, making a donation of corrugated boxes to ensure urgent medical supplies reached remote communities across Africa.

Inter Care’s mission is to “save lives and alleviate suffering through the provision of surplus medical resources”. The focus of its work is on sub-Saharan Africa, where medical care is often limited and hard to source.

While healthcare programmes have improved, an increasing population size on the continent means many people struggle to pay for the support they need and cannot access the vital services and medication.

Based in the Leicestershire village of Syston, Inter Care has been positively transforming lives since 1974 by collecting surplus health care goods and transporting them to medical practices across Sierra Leone, Malawi and Tanzania.

To-date, Inter Care has sent £18.7m worth of medical aid to Africa, with a reliance on donations of time and support from individuals, groups and businesses to ensure its vital work can continue.

A consignment of corrugated cardboard boxes have been donated by Colton Packaging so that the latest shipment of supplies safely reach their destinations on the African continent.

Speaking about our involvement with Inter Care, the charity’s CEO Diane Hardy said, “We are incredibly grateful for the very kind donation of cardboard boxes from Colton Packaging,”

“These boxes will be used to pack medicines that are due to be shipped to four health facilities in Sierra Leone, as well as four hospitals in Malawi. We can now rest easy knowing that these supplies will be transported without becoming damaged or lost. These medicines will really make a difference – in some cases not just improving lives, but saving them,”

Diane continues, “The generosity shown by the team at Colton Packaging is truly amazing, so I just want to say thank you again to the whole team for your selfless generosity.”

For our Managing Director, Laura Colton-Smith, the opportunity to support such a vital cause is one which herself and the wider team could not overlook.

“Colton Packaging’s mission has always been to do good in its community. I think we have a responsibility as a family business to not just focus on the bottom line, but to use our influence and our resources to make a positive difference where we can,”

“When we heard about the life saving work of Inter Care, we felt it was our duty to offer our support. We’re so happy that these boxes are due to make their way across the African continent, delivering essential medical supplies which we often take for granted.”
